Carmena will put benches at Puerta del Sol and will move the statues to gain space

Manuela Carmena`s government team (Ahora Madrid) rejects the idea of a complete reform of Puerta del Sol and plans a “small scale” action to re-order some of its elements (statues and kiosks), free spaces and install benches so that it turns into a place to be, not just to go through.
According to some sources of the Consistory, a big scale reform of Puerta del Sol is not a prioritary objective for the actual municipal government team, which only contemplates diverse actions which follows with people not just being able to get there and walk, but also so that they understand the Puerta del Sol as a space to stay. This actions would imply, within other things, move the Encuestre estatue, the Bear and the Arbutus and the Mariblanca.
Also, the city hall does not intend to install terraces at the square. In this way, the government team of Ahora Madrid will not re-model this emblematic spot, as Ana Botella`s team foresaw, who held a competition for it.
